Salt Lake Premier Academy
Created and helmed by SLFC's Director of Coaching Roberto Maturana, the new Salt Lake Premier Academy program for ages 6-10 is designed to meet today's needs while using the latest soccer training techniques utilized at clubs around the world to create a balanced, imaginative soccer player.
The curriculum will include individual techniques, proven team-building exercises, and small-sided games (3 v 3 up to 6 v 6). This academy is unique in that it will provide each player an opportunity to learn how to play in all situations on the pitch.
The academy, set to begin in fall 2011, is the first of its kind on Salt Lake City's West side. Applications are still being accepted until August 1. Most teams will play in a Utah Youth Soccer approved recreational program. Other teams over age 9 may be selected for inclusion in Utah Youth's X-League, or "Introduction to State Competition" program.
All players will receive age-appropriate instruction, regular personal evaluations, and have the opportunity to someday play for SLFC's full club side and work with SLFC's coaching staff.
Sessions will be held every Saturday during the fall and spring, followed by an inter-academy tournament to be held at the end of every season.
